Create Categories
Before you can create a forum you will need to create the categories that the forum belongs to. Take the example of a soccer club. You might have a general category, which has a forum for Supporters and a forum for Players and deals with general discussions. You could then have a Club category with a forum for discussion about Club Activities and the Club Committee. In this example you have two forum categories and four discussion forums.
Add, Remove and Edit Categories
To add a forum category click on the [Categories] link in the left hand menu. Note: you need to be logged in as administrator.
- How to add a category?
To add a new category, enter the name of new category and click the Add New button. See the screen shot below.
- How to remove a category?
To remove a category you must select the category you wish to remove in the drop down list and click the Delete button. Important: Deleting a category will delete all the forums and posts in that category.
- How to edit a category?
You are able to change the category name and the order in which the categories are displayed. Make the required changes to the Name and Position information and then click the Update button to save the updated category information.
Once you have created the categories you require you can setup the forums in each category. |
